For year’s
Microscopes have been a part of the laboratory environment until we
started to realize that generations of laboratory technicians working
with microscopes may develop discomfort or even lasting injuries.
After many years of
microscope work researchers and technicians may develop Repetitive
Strain Injuries and/or Repetitive Stress Injuries or different specific
work- related Musculoskeletal Disorders (MSD). MSDs are medical
conditions affecting the muscles, nerves, tendons, ligaments, joints,
cartilage, and/or spinal discs. From quite common tendonitis (an
inflammation of the tendon), carpal tunnel syndrome, ganglion cysts, to
lower back pain. Beside that, wrong posture and head position more then
10-15 degrees below a horizontal plane may give us a real pain in the
neck and possibly a spinal disc injury.
If we compare the
suffering, financial lost to patient and employer, real loses in dollars
related to sick leaves, with investment of about one hundred dollars, it
only makes sense to equip your microscope work stations with “Arm
Support” kit.
With several adjustment
options you can customize each of the Arm Supports up to your
microscope height requirements. In some instances customers prefer to
have each Support of different height for best reach of microscope
controls. The Front clamps will fit on benches with front ledge up to
1.5" thick. The ledge overlap should be 2" or more in
depth.
